PROJECT MEETINGS

Meetings for planning are most important to the success of the Service Learning Project. During these meetings, we will be organizing and preparing ourselves with an orientation to the program where we come to consensus on what service learning is, strategies for dealing with and fitting into our new community [culture shock?], exploring aspects of the history and culture of Mexico, journaling the event, and sharing research-based strategies for teaching children in all cultures.

The three mandatory 5-hour on-campus workshop/retreats are on:

February 17, March 17 and April 7, 2007.

These "work-treats" will provide much-needed time for our group to plan fundraising to help defray our expenses, brainstorm, plan, demonstrate arts and crafts and other learning activities, and prepare and collaborate on the teaching plans that we will take with us for each level of [5-6 year olds, 7-9 year olds, and 10-11 year olds] instruction.

The best part of the Project Meetings is meeting your project facilitators and teaching partners to share dreams and ideas with project participants from a variety of cultures, ages, and backgrounds as we bond as a team in order to make a difference in the global community during the NDNU Service Learning Project in Guadalajara, Mexico on July 14-28, 2007.
